Calendar for Eco-Tours and Events

We offer a variety of eco-tours that will suit a wide range of paddling skills. If you do not see an eco-tour that fits your interests, skills or schedule, contact us and we will build a tour around your desires, ability, and schedule.

Kayaking Tour Self-Assessment:  We are often asked about the suggested level of kayaking experience and skills needed to participate in the Florida Kayak School and Tour’s tours.  We have embraced a chart that was created by the Tampa Bay Sea Kayakers to help answer this question.  This chart will allow our clients to self-assess to determine which of our tours are appropriate for the paddler’s skill-level.  Each tour we offer has the suggested skill-level noted in the description.

Roatan Island Instructor Development Workshop and Vacation

Sign up today to reserve your spot for this 8-day, kayaking Instructor Development Workshop and vacation in the warm and blues waters of Roatan!  For this program Tommy Thompson is teaming up with Michael Gray of Uncommon Adventures to offer you a way to multi task while on vacation. Both Tommy and Michael, are really on the same page, instructionally speaking, so if you are looking for high standards in a low pressure environment, you’ve found it.  If you are just interested in a tropical vacation with a little paddling, some snorkeling on a living coral reef, perhaps some diving and having some really great meals, you’ve come to the right place.  (Michael literally wrote the book on great kayak cooking!) If you are an aspiring kayak instructor or simply wanting to up your skills game, you can do that too. Bring your mate, bring your family or just bring your flip-flops and prepare for a great time!

Situated 40 miles offshore of the Caribbean coast of Honduras lies a mountaintop that rises up out of the ocean.  Haloed by a ring of healthy coral, the name of that very hilly island is Roatan. Situated 90 miles due East of Belize, it is a well-known dive destination that is service by all major airlines on direct flights from the US.  You can start in Detroit, NY or Minneapolis and be on island time by lunchtime.  It’s that easy. We’ll help you sort out flight schedules for the best deals…our schedule is built around Saturday arrivals and departures, so they all work for us.

The Courses:  for those interested in American Canoe Association instruction, we start with a Level 3 skills training with integrated assessment and then ease into an L3 Instructor Development Workshop in 80 degree water at a relaxed pace. You may even have time for some diving. Michael has 25 winters of Roatan experience, so he knows all the little local channels and places to play in currents and waves as well as the best place for ceviche and rum drinks.  Just need an update?  No problem…we can make that happen.  We will be based at Marble Hill Farms, a comfortable tropical fruit farm out on the remote east end of the island where you can wake to the sound of yellow naped parrots and the smell of Honduran estate grown coffee.

March 24-31 Saturday-to-Saturday, 8 days, 7 nights
